Core CAD Upgrades

Several additions in DraftSight 2027 focus on everyday drawing and editing work.

Property Painter copies formatting between objects with a single click, while Associative Pattern Paths keep repeated geometry linked to its source, so edits carry through automatically.

Working with referenced files also gets an update. XREF change notifications alert you when referenced files change. DRAWINGRECOVERY adds stronger file recovery support when a drawing or session is interrupted.

More Tools for Detailed Drawing Work

DraftSight 2027 adds FIELD annotations for dynamic, automatically updating text, and a built-in SMARTCALCULATOR for calculations and measurements.

For drawing data that needs to move outside of CAD, DATAEXTRACTION now exports drawing data directly to Excel, reducing manual re-entry.

BIM Module Enhancements

DraftSight 2027 expands its BIM capabilities with an updated BIM material library and a new RELOAD-FROM workflow for keeping linked models current.

The release also adds IFC stair and grid line support, along with improvements to curtain wall integration for architectural workflows.

3DEXPERIENCE Platform Improvements

For DraftSight Connected users, Batch Uploads provide a faster way to move multiple drawings into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. PLM drawing attributes are also available directly within DraftSight Connected, giving users access to engineering data while working in DraftSight.

Brian is an Application Engineer at DraftSight with 13 years of industrial manufacturing experience. Prior to joining Dassault Systèmes, he served as an Application Engineer at Saint-Gobain. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Material Science and Engineering from UMass Dartmouth. Throughout his career, Brian has been at the forefront of leveraging cutting-edge technologies and software solutions to optimize processes, improve product quality, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

Kevin Land

Global DraftSight Industry Process Expert Specialist at Dassault Systèmes

Kevin Land has around 25 years of experience as a CAD Designer for various large firms throughout America, most recently with Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, FL., where he was a Senior Designer for the Ride & Show department. He holds an AutoCAD Certified Instructor Certificate, an AS in Film & Video from Full Sail University and a BS in Applied Technology from Wilmington University. He’s lived in various part of Asia, worked with large format 3D scanners, and filmed with Insta 360 video cameras. He looks forward to sharing his various skills with everyone he meets.
