Streamlining Manufacturing: The Power of DraftSight and SOLIDWORKS

Collaboration between 2D and 3D is a part of everyday work for manufacturing companies. Most companies maintain their legacy using 2D .DWG files, including those whose products are engineered using SOLIDWORKS.

In this session, we will look at how DraftSight can edit nearly any .DWG file, including those from SOLIDWORKS. Then, we will create a 2D detail drawing from a model exported from SOLIDWORKS. This allows different teams in the company to create the drawings they need to plan, package and produce their products by using the best-in-class tools throughout the process.

Andreas Kulik

Senior Director, Global DraftSight Business Development & GTM Strategy at Dassault Systèmes.

Andreas Kulik is in charge of the DraftSight business at Dassault Systèmes. He has over 24 years of experience developing, managing, and selling innovative CAD and PLM software solutions across various industries. He managed the development of online services and products for the SOLIDWORKS brand’s user community and led the business development and go-to-market strategy for the Collaboration and Business Intelligence solution of the 3DEXPERIENCE Works portfolio

Before Dassault Systèmes, Andreas served in sales and product management roles at PTC, working with Fortune 500 companies worldwide. He also holds a patent for co-inventing embedded fluid cooling in printed circuit boards (PCBs).

Brian Vanasse

Global DraftSight Industry Process Senior Manager at Dassault Systèmes

Brian is an Application Engineer at DraftSight with 13 years of industrial manufacturing experience. Prior to joining Dassault Systèmes, he served as an Application Engineer at Saint-Gobain. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Material Science and Engineering from UMass Dartmouth. Throughout his career, Brian has been at the forefront of leveraging cutting-edge technologies and software solutions to optimize processes, improve product quality, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

Thom Tremblay

Global DraftSight Industry Process Expert Senior Specialist at Dassault Systèmes

Thom Tremblay is a seasoned author, lecturer, and application engineer with over thirty years of experience in CAD software. His extensive career encompasses teaching, technical sales, and engineering technology and education advocacy. Thom's expertise lies in harnessing CAD tools to drive innovation and efficiency in educational settings and industrial applications.

Jack Lane

Global DraftSight Industry Process Expert Specialist at Dassault Systèmes

Jack is an Application Engineer for DraftSight with 13 years of 2D and 3D CAD experience in professional and educational environments. Prior to working for Dassault Systèmes, he was a Mechanical Design Engineer for SwimEx Inc. and an Aquatic System Design Engineer for Weston & Sampson Inc. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Yash Bhaskar

Industry Process Consultant Specialist

A mechanical engineering graduate with over 13 years of experience in CAD/CAE application Pre-Sales and Technical Support. He has worked with various CAD solutions, contributing to their growth by assisting customers in understanding the potential of different applications and resolving their application challenges.

Before joining Dassault Systèmes, Yash worked with a leading CAD company and the SolidWorks Partner community. He has extensive experience collaborating with customers in the manufacturing, automotive, architecture, and building & construction industries.
